Secondary School Program

Educational Program
The secondary program prepares students for colleges and universities in the United States or other countries.  The rigorous academic program consists of the traditional disciplines of Mathematics, Laboratory Science (biology, physics, and chemistry), World Cultural Studies and History, World Literature, English Grammar, Art, Music, Physical Education, French or Arabic, and Computer Literacy.  Advanced Placement Courses are offered for college credit in selected areas.  Three Diplomas are offered – Academic with Honors, Academic, and Practical.

Advance Placement Courses
Advanced Placement (AP) courses challenge our Third and Fourth Secondary students to think with the sophistication of college students.  Depending on the enrollment, interest, and student capability, Sanaa International School will offer Advanced Placement courses.  These courses provide rigorous preparation for the AP exams credentialed by the Educational Testing Service in the United States.  Many colleges and universities in the USA give university credit for test scores of 3 and better (on a scale of 1 to 5).

Secondary School Graduation Requirements
SANAA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL offers a secondary program that leads to a Secondary School Diploma.  Most graduates of Sanaa International School attend a college or university upon completion of their studies and have been very successful in obtaining admittance to colleges or universities of their choice.

Three Diplomas are offered:
The Academic Diploma with Honors
This is the most prestigious diploma.  Requirements are the same as for the Academic Diploma with the condition that the credits include at least two Advanced Placement (AP) courses (of ten credits each), 240 credits required.

The Academic Diploma
This is a college or university preparatory course of study.  Students who satisfactorily complete this program expect admission into an American college or university, or in some cases, a university in another country.  240 credits required including electives.

The Secondary Diploma
This is available to students who experience English language difficulties, time restraints, or other circumstances which make it impractical to pursue a more advanced course of study.  It is only available to students who are in their fourth year of secondary studies or who will turn 18 years old no later than 30 October following their graduation.  It is designed for students requiring a general secondary education to prepare for direct entry into the work force or further specialized practical training.  220 credits required including electives.
