Graduation Requirements

For students to graduate with an Academic Diploma, the minimum requirements are 240 units. 10 units equal 1 Carnegie Unit. These units are required to be in the following areas: English 80 units, Mathematics 30 units, Science 30 units, Cultural Studies 40 units, Health and Physical Education 25 units, Languages other than English 20 units, Creative and Practical Arts 10 units, Elective Credits 5 units. 


An Academic Diploma with Honors is offered to students who complete 2 AP courses as well as the requirements for an Academic Diploma.

The
Secondary Diploma is available to students who experience language difficulties, time restraints, or other problems that make it impractical to pursue a more advanced course of study. This diploma is designed for students requiring a sound secondary education to prepare for direct entry into the work force.
The basic minimum requirements are 220 units or 22 Carnegie Units. These units are required to be in the following areas: English 50 units, Mathematics 20 units, Science 20 units, Cultural Studies 30 units, Health and Physical Education 25 units, Languages other than English 20 units, Creative and Practical Arts 10 units, Elective credits 45 units.

English: Literature I & II, Writing I & II, American Literature (alt. yr), British Literature (alt. yr), Journalism I & II, Research Project, Computer Applications I & II, AP British Literature

Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Mathematics I & II, Consumer Mathematics, AP Calculus

Science: Physical Science, Biology, Physics (alt. yr.), Chemistry (alt. yr.), Environmental Science

Cultural Studies: World Geography, Modern World History, U.S. History, World Govt., Economics, AP European History

Health & Phys. Ed.: Fitness, Health, Team Sports, Lifetime Sports, In Depth Sports

Languages: French I,II & III  (as a foreign language), AP French, Arabic I & II (as a foreign language), Arabic Language I,II,III,IV  (for Arabic speakers), Arabic Culture I, II III, IV (for Arabic speakers), German Studies (for German speakers), AP German

Fine Arts: Art I & II, AP Art, Music, Drama

Electives: Secondary Project
