Philosophy
Sanaa International School follows a success-orientated model of education where student performance is the sole criteria for success. Within this performance-based system SIS believes in a personalized approach to instruction leading to mastery within a positive and enjoyable learning environment. It offers a challenging academic curriculum for students Preschool through Grade 12. Studies are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student
Grading System
Mastery of each essential unit is evaluated with an “A” or “B” (mastery grades). “B” represents mastery at a very good level and “A” represents mastery with the student demonstrating noteworthy achievement particularly in higher order thinking skills. Mediocre or poor work, Cs and Ds, are not accepted, as students are required to engage in the essential unit until they achieve mastery. If a student has mastered a unit with a “B” evaluation, he/she may wish to demonstrate a higher level of mastery at a later time, in that current school year, to change the evaluation to an “A”. A time period (quarter, semester, term) is not evaluated; student performance for the school year is assessed on each essential unit in which a student is engaged.
Class Rank
Due to the mobility of SIS students and the relatively small graduating classes as well as the variety of educational systems students come from, our student’s class rank is not computed.
