Quality School International of Bishkek

     
     

Quality School International of Bishkek, a non-profit institution which opened in September 1994, offers high quality education in the English language for pre-school, elementary, middle and secondary students. An enrollment of approximately 55-60 students is projected for the 2005-2006 school year, representing about 15 nationalities. This will include students from the diplomatic community, the international business community, and from the local Kyrgyz community.

• Facility
The school moved into a newly renovated building in the 2004-2005 school year. The building includes a computer lab, library, music room, art room, Intensive English room, video room, foreign language room, cafeteria/kitchen, and sufficient classroom space for the preschool through the secondary programs. There is adequate room for the continuing growth of the student population. The site also includes a soccer field, a covered outdoor basketball, volleyball and tennis court, and a well equipped playground area.

• Academic Program
The academic program uses a Performance-Based/Mastery Learning approach to education. This model ensures mastery of specific skills and knowledge involving both individual and group instruction. The educational philosophy is founded upon the premises that:

  • All students can succeed.
  • Success breeds success.
  • It is the responsibility of the school to provide the conditions for success.

• Curriculum
The curriculum includes English (reading, grammar, composition, and spelling), Mathematics, Cultural Studies (History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science), Science (Physical, Life, and Earth), Art, Music, and Physical Education. Intensive English classes are offered to students who need additional help with English. Computer use is integrated across the curriculum. Additional language acquisition is offered in Russian. The school seeks to provide students with an appreciation for the rich culture and history of Kyrgyzstan. Materials and equipment are up-to-date and of high quality. The class sizes are small.
