Overview


Baku International School (BIS) was established by Quality Schools International (QSI) in 1994 as a private, non-profit institution that offers a high-quality Preschool (2, 3, and 4 year-olds program), Elementary, Middle School, and Secondary education leading to graduation. The school and its programs are fully accredited by internationally recognized Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States. The school was founded to meet the needs of the children of foreign expatriates living in Baku who require a high-quality English medium-of-instruction program that facilitates their seamless transfer back home or to other international schools.



The school’s educational philosophy advocates a personal approach to instruction in accordance to a Performance-Based model of education. All teachers and the school administration subscribe to a “Success for all” commitment in working with students and cherish its positive learning environment. The school is renowned for its “family-feel”, success in inspiring good behavior, and strong academic standards.



The students attending BIS come all corners of the world with approximately 29% from Azerbaijan, 24% from the United States, 9% from India, 8% from Turkey, 6% from the United Kingdom, 4 % from Germany, 3% from Japan, 3% from Poland, and so on to total students from twenty-four different countries. The school was comprised of 155 students during the 2008-2009 school year and is prepared for further expansion of both its facility and programs in anticipation of further growth during the 2009-2010 school year.

Baku International School is fully accredited kindergarten through secondary (high school) graduation by internationally recognized Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States.
